I want to have a pond in back yard. I have started digging a round hole. It will be filled with pump water. Can ponds be made by a human?

Unless you dig down to the level of your local ground water, you’ll have
to find some way to keep that water in your ‘pond’ instead of soaking into the ground.
You are trying to build a pool, (un-natural) not a true pond, (natural).
You will need to line your hole in the ground.
Plastic sheeting and sand to protect if will be required.
It needs to be installed properly.
Maybe you need to re-think this project.
You’re ‘in over your head’.

You may want to ask someone at a local pet store in your area especially those that sell Koi fish. Even if you are building you’re pond as a decorative piece for a garden they would still be able to advise you about the issues related to building and maintaining a homemade pond. There are also some garden centers that can be helpful.
