Question by Ant: Is it safe to use water treated by a water softener in a garden pond?
Des it make a difference if Potassium is used instead of Sodium?

It’s probably not a good idea. Although the concentration of sodium or potassium in the soft water is supposed to be low, it would gradually increase over time as you replace the water in the pond that was lost through evaporation. We don’t have a problem with soft water because any excess sodium or potassium is removed by the kidneys and discharged in the urine.
