There are lots of species of catfish. Some popular ones such as Corydoras types will do well indoors in an unheated aquarium, but can’t tolerate the more extremes outdoors except briefly in the summer.

If you know the species of your catfish, look it up on PlanetCatfish.com. If you don’t that same link has many photos you can sort through looking for your cat, but that can be tedious since there are so many different catfish!

Only catfish native to temperate areas can winter over outside in a UK pond. Careful consideration should precede putting any non-native catfish outside that might escape into the environment during a flood or accident. If there is any chance at all of escape, keep it inside. Good luck!
