Question by Dianne S: What can you feed goldfish if you’re out of fishfood?
The ice has finally melted off of my garden pond, my fish survived the winter! I’m all out of fish food right now, any ideas on what I can feed them til I get to the petstore?

  1. Milo says:

Bread crumbs. but people feed the fish spinach

I suggest you get to the store as quickly as possible — those fish are HUNGRY! In the meantime, you might try some bread — just a bit to see if they like it — and some cornflakes or Cheerios or Rice Krispies (no sugar!) My fish actually enjoyed an occasional brussel sprout, but as with any “not really fish food”, give only a bit to see if they like it — you don’t want stuff to spoil in the pond!

My little goldfish likes shelled peas.
